Inspiration came from
Everyday when we go home from work, school or the markets, not only do we need to sanitize ourselves, but we need to sanitize our bags, smart phones, books, clothes, packages, food from the market, and so much more!
Usually because of convenient, people will use disposable disinfecting wipes. Imagine how many wipes are use PER day under COVID to sanitize and infect everything that we bring to the house!
We want to come up with a more eco-friendly way to disinfect and sanitize products on a daily basis. If possible, we want to make it lightweight and portable so we can bring it everywhere and anywhere to clean and sanitize.
What problems are we trying to solve?
Wipes are used even more during COVID to disinfect and sanitize products when we get home. But wipes aren't recyclable and it takes up to 100 years to decompose. How can we help solve this hot issue of paper and wipe waste?
The challenge we encountered
At first we want to make gloves with alcohol spray and UV light, but we can’t think of how to make UV lights and alcohol spray to store inside the gloves. So we start to think 💭 of what other devices can we make that can have the functions that we want. Eventually our group came up with the idea of building a cleaning/disinfecting machine.
The resources we needed
We need the following resources and skills to build our Cleanvengers:
- Money to buy the materials such as UV light, cardboard boxes, plastic containers (to hold alcohol/other liquid), alcohol spray
- Skills/human resources:
- engineers who can teach us how to design a machine/robot
- biotech companies that sell/invent eco-friendly disinfecting products (to replace the use of alcohol as a way to sanitize)
- someone to teach us CODING so we can use it to create our machine/robot
- interview janitors/housewife/general public to see what would they like to have on our machine to make it more efficient to disinfect around the house

We are a group of passionate and creative Grade 4 to Grade 6 students from VNSAA St. Hilary's Primary School. Let's fight the virus in a more eco-friendly way!
